He cut a dashing figure with hand raised in victory at the wheel of a shiny new sports convertible that only a serious amount of income could buy.
Adsense income had been kind to this youthful money making pioneer. You probably know Adsense are Google advertisements that appear in the margins of web site pages. Every time someone clicks on one these ads money flows into the pocket of web site owners like our friend in the sports car.
And there was proof of that Adsense income. Screenshots of Adsense receipts left no doubt of monthly revenue consistently exceeding $10,000. From zero to over $10,000 in a little over 12 months. Pretty impressive stuff.
Only problem was the reams and reams of sale copy that cataloged our entrepreneurs overnight success “forget” to make mention of …………..how much it cost to generate the Adsense income. Adwords are the flip side of the Google advertising equation. In order to bring visitors to his 100’s of web sites it is speculated our friend paid out thousands of $$$$$$ each and every month to meet his Pay per click advertising costs.
Whilst the sales copy eventually, if not obliquely, mentioned Pay per click costs were involved in this promotion, the failure to quantify those costs left the discerning sales copy reader guessing as to bottom line profits made.
Exaggerated money making feats literally abound the internet. One problem is that (and the sales copy writers know this) online money making enthusiasts actually want to be seduced by tales of unlimited wealth. And in the rush to the cash register people don’t often look behind the hype, the fluff and the glittering sales tinsel. Regrettably I speak from direct experience.
As the Money Making Detective my simple and humble goal in presenting online money making related options is to…………….well allow me to paraphrase Site Build It President Ken Evoy. “Keep it real”.
